Usually when asked ‘what was your first noodle product,’ the answer I get from a company is chicken flavored instant noodles. Well, chicken flavor instant noodles are these and they look like a nice big bag of noodles! Been awhile – last time I had this is was review #88!

The noodles are plentiful and have a much firmer disposition than any other chicken flavor instant I’ve ever known of. The noodles are a wider gauge than any other chicken instant as well. Here’s a new one from Paldo – Namja. Namja translates to “man” or “guy” – I think they’re saying this is very hot and spicy. I wonder if there will be a product that is made for women as well? Well, let’s see if I’m man enough for this bowl of noodles!

Finished (click image to enlarge). I took some fresh onion and a little roast beef and a bit of garlic and sauteed in a pan for a few and added on top with a dash of Krazy Mixed Up Salt. Also added a slice of processed cheese. The noodles herein are chewy – and nicely so. The broth is the real star here. It has a very strong spicy punch to it and a nice cascade of garlic taste that is very enjoyable. The vegetables rehydrate very nicely and are enjoyable. This isn’t you regular red broth – it’s definitely going for the ‘gourmet’ palate – and it does that very well. 5.0 out of 5.0 stars – unique and tasty! UPC bar code 8809296771018 – get it here.

Hey rad – a big cup of kimchi noodles! I’m a big fan of kimchi these days and hoping this is just what the doctor ordered today!

I’m sure Korean folks who see this will say big deal, especially since these exist! But recently we got the big jar of kimchi! It takes up a lot of our fridge – and it’s worth it!

The noodles are of that nice soft and buttery type – I must say that in the varieties so far, it sure seems like Paldo varies the types of noodles it puts in its products quite a bit. The broth is great – salty, spicy and has that nice flavor of kimchi. The veggies are great too – re-hydrated very well. This is a great bowl of noodles! 4.0 out of 5.0 stars. Finished (click image to enlarge). Added some onions, red bell pepper and broccoli, some roast beef lunch meat and finally a few slices of hard boiled egg with Krazy Mixed Up Salt on top. Wow – this is very different! The noodles are good – nice amount and they are of good character and quality. The broth is a completely different experience than I’m used to. As you see in the cooking method, you cook the additions in 400cc water along with the liquid packet. Then you add the noodles and the powder packet’s contents. The broth is thick, sweet and spicy. The noodles soaked up a lot of the heat too – the veggies soaked up a lot of the sweetness. It’s awesome stuff! Now as always, I review the base products and not my additions. This is really quite neat stuff and I’m hooked – I hope this comes to the United States someday! 4.75 out of 5.0 stars! Excellent! UPC bar code 8801128509374 .

Oh man I’m thoroughly ticked off. Melky Cabrera just got caught taking testosterone and now is out for 50 games. I’m a huge SF Giants fan and this is just painful. Just went to my first game a few weeks ago too. Feel kind of cheated in a way. Anyways, no reason that jerk’s gonna mess up my noodle day! This is something I’ve never even heard of! Seolleongtangmyeon? I looked it up on Wikipedia:

Seolleongtang is a Korean broth tang (soup) made from ox bones (mostly leg bones), brisket and other cuts. Seasoning is generally done at the table according to personal taste by adding salt, ground black pepper, red pepper, minced garlic, or chopped spring onions. It is a local dish of Seoul.^[1]

Seolleongtang is typically simmered over a low flame over a period of several hours to an entire day, to allow the flavor to be gradually extracted from the bones. It has a milky off-white, cloudy appearance and is normally eaten together with rice and several side dishes; the rice is sometimes added directly to the soup.^[2]

Sounds kind of like the Gomtang but different perhaps. I added the myeon at the end as it’s made with noodles where the traditional seolleongtang is not. If this is totally wrong, I wouldn’t be surprised; I think I’m trying to translate and make up a word I’m probably not correct in doing! Well, this should be interesting – something new!

The noodles seem slightly softer than the usual ones they make, but not spongy or mushy by any means. The broth is light and has a nice flavor to it. The veggies aren’t bad. In the US, it’s Kokomen, in Korea it’s Kko Kko Myun! They also have not only the package variety, but also in a King Cup! Let’s see if it’s as good as the package version.

Here’s Paldo’s standard hot & spicy variety. Today and tomorrow are supposed to be the hottest days of the year here in the northwest – temps are supposed to hit 94 degrees today and 96 tomorrow. Hot and spicy sounds just about right! What’s Hwa though? Couldn’t figure that one out but here’s what the health info on soy peptide is! Anyways – I’m hungry – time to noodle it up!

It’s been quite a while since I’ve had this one – thought it’d be a good one to finish Meet The Manufacturer: Paldo with. Hot day, cold noodles. I should also mention the last time I had this was review #118 – over 700 packs ago – and my tastes have changed a bit. I’m happy to say I like cold noodles nowadays.

I’d thought I’d had everyone’s bowl noodles by now but lo and behold, a shrimp flavor by Paldo. So let’s give it a try!

Added a two egg omelette, odeng, green bell pepper, yellow onion, broccoli, Huy Fong Sriracha chili sauce and some Krazy Mixed Up Salt – and a slice of processed cheese. The noodles aren’t bad – a slight bitt spongy. The broth has a seafood taste – a shrimp flavor is in there. Not overly salty either and a hint of spiciness. The veggies are okay and the little shrimp bits are great! A good lunch although wuold’ve like a little more from this bowl. 3.25 out of 5.0 stars.UPC bar code 648436100019 – get it here.

The broth is very good – it has a nicely concocted meat flavor for a second and then a serious wave of heat! I’m enjoying it right now and it is really quite hot. The oil packet is a real plus in this one as it gives the broth a nice extra heartiness. The little bits and pieces of meat and kamaboko and veggies were decent – especially the meat – liked that a lot. A very nice bowl of noodles – 4.25 out of 5.0 stars. Last night, Obama got re-elected as the President, and here in Washington state, same-sex marriage was approved – as was the recreational use of marijuana. Quite an evening! Anyways, was fun watching the political process wind up and come to a close for this cycle. Now, on to the urgent task of noodle reviewing!  The last time I reviewed this one was back in February of ’11 and was #287 (link). I forgot how awesome the picture on this one – I love how it says ‘serving suggestion.’ It makes me think that this is one enormous king of the lobsters that wants you to serve it these self-flavored noodles! Roarrr!!! On a side note, if you look at the lower right hand side of the cup, you can see it says “Chitosan Oligosaccaride 2 mg.” What the heck is that?!?! What I got out of this Wikipedia article is that this is something that comes from the exoskeletons of crustaceans. It got me thinking – Chitosan… ChitoSlim? I remember commercials for ChitoSlim, a weight lossupplement. I found it and lo and behold it contains 1000 mg of Chitosan. I figure it’s basically like a super-fiber. Anyways, let’s continue.

The noodles are nice – not mushy, but they kind of come together when chewed. Kind of hard to explain; not a negative either. The broth is nice – tasty and a little spicy. Thought I’d have these – they’re available in the US now, but this is a Re-Review of the pack that is sold in Korea. The version sold in the US will be being reviewed soon! The noodles  are nice – light and buttery with a nice width. The broth is interesting; it is spicy but not burn your face off spicy and has a nice chicken flavor with some hints of cumin.
