#533: Paldo Gomtang Oriental Style Noodles With Soup Base

Gomtang huh? Sounds like a Star Trek alien creature that’s been traveling possibly hundreds of thousands of years across space to find it’s final resting place in the vicinity of a star about to go nova. But I don’t think that’s what they’re going for here.

One packet of soup base…

With a lot in it!

Here’s the finished product (click image to enlarge). I liked it although I don’t exactly know what kind of flavor its supposed to be. Kind of a onion and garlic and pepper taste. Those are all in the stock ingredients as well as beef flavor, although its rather light in color. Good noodles. I’m going to rate this one a 3 out of 5. It’s a solid tasty pack of noodles and I liked it. Get it here.

So sometimes I’m looking for some new ramen and see it but it only seems to come in a 5 pack. Nowhere else in the noodle aisle do they have it… That’s really annoying! This was one such variety but I finally found it at a new Asian market I found today out of nowhere across from 99 Ranch Market in Edmonds. Anyways, here’s Paldo brand Bibim Men Oriental Style Noodle

So only one packet. The directions are to cook the noodles and then drain them, wash them under cold water and then put the goopy contents of this packet with them and stir.

See the goopy contents? On the package it mentions now with 8% more apple juice and also has a pic of a hot pepper.

Finished stuff (click image to enlarge). Well, I’m certainly glad I didn’t get 5 of them. It’s interesting a very different; it’s cold noodles with a slightly apple tasting and spicy flavor. Still, not really my thing. I might like them better hot but still not sure. The end result is 2.5 out of 5.0 stars. It’s really neat and cool to see something so different than what I usually get, but really not that great or terrible.

Green tea noodles? Cool – something unique right? Hmmm… When I opened the package I was greeted with the odor of green tea. Yup – the noodles are infused with green tea powder and the odor is very strong.

Two packets – dry soup base and vegetables.

The veggies looked very nice however the powder had a bit of an off odor to it.

Final product (click image to enlarge). I wish the photo showed how green this stuff is. Very strange. Honestly I found this to be some of the worst noodles ever. While It has the amazing power of green tea, the wretched aroma and flavor is enough to make me wretch. I am going to give it 0.0 stars out of 5.0 stars. Sorry Paldo but I really don’t like this one. Get it here.

So I have seen these all over the place but don’t think I’ve ever tried it. I’ve seen red background ones with a lady that looks like a nurse. Anyways, Kit picked this one out of my ‘vault’ to try today.

Would you look at that? The white packet has Cyrillic on it! That was a first to see…

Silver packet was soup base, white was veggies – and there was a decent amount of both.

Add boiling water to line and cover for three minutes. I thought it looked kind of ominous… Kind of looked like a portable hard disk or something I dunno…

The finished product – very nice (click image to enlarge)! Gave it some stirring and here we are. So I like the noodles – they’re just the right firmness. They taste good too. The broth is salty and porky and all around very nice. The veggies are quite plentiful and have a slight amount of crunch to them here and there. To top it off, there are little artificial chewy bits o’ fake pork floating around. Some might find these gross but I thought it to be a nice addition. So I was not expecting to enjoy this so much – I’m giving it a 4.125 out of 5.0 stars rating! Decent breakfast fare! Get it here.

Warning – IF YOU CAN’T HANDLE HOT AND SPICY FLAVORS, STAY AWAY!!!

So first off, help with translation here would be great. I think the words on the front of the package have a bit more going on than Paldo Teumsae. Teumsae seems to be another company.

Two packets – veggies and soup base.

I tasted the pinch of the powder. Seemed a little spicy.

Click image to enlarge. I dropped an egg right into the noodles as they cooked. I saw a guy do this on YouTube so thought why not. Well first off, this stuff is hot. I mean hot – probably the spiciest flavored instant noodles I’ve ever had. My mouth, throat and lips are burning like mad right now. The noodles are good enough – slightly ballsy. The egg added a nice element of freshness and the vegetables are very very ample – I mean there’s tons of them! Very good! a 3.0 out of 5.0 stars.

So I thought after yesterday’s meeting with the super spicy noodles, I thought I’d see if two days in a row of pain would work out pretty well. So Here’s some hot & spicy with soy peptide! Yum!

So here’s powder and vegetables ready to go.

So veggies and powder. Ample amounts of each, which seems to be the hallmark of the Paldo packages of noodles.

So here she be (click image to enlarge). I added two eggs during the noodle boil. I think it was an excellent idea. This is some seriously tasty fare here! The noodles are nice and firm, the broth is spicy but not like yesterday where I had burning lips for almost an hour after the fact. The veggies are delicious and the eggs added just the right touch to round out the meal. I am giving it 4.25 out of 5.0 stars – I really enjoyed this quite a bit!Especially the soy peptides! Fun and yum! Get it here.

So this looks like a regular boring pack of noodles. Soy flavor – nothing special here right?

Vegetables and seasoning powder…

Veggies and powder. Welsh onion flake tops the list of veggie ingredients…

Click image to enlarge. So let me say that this is some really good stuff. I added a couple of eggs directly to it while the noodles were boiling. So the broth is nice and hearty and the noodles are very thick and the veggies have a slight crunch to them. All in all, it was a very good bowl of noodles to have for breakfast and I am quite pleased. I’m giving it a 4.1 out of 5.0 stars – a great one here.

Hey it looks like the lady from the Dosirac pack! She looks kind of like a nurse. Well, let’s cook it up.

Soup base and veggies…

Hello chili powder! Red mean zing zing zing here – spicy will be for real I think.

Click image to enlarge. Now would you look at that! Some nice seaweed and other vegetable bits going on! Also a tasty broth that was hot but not too hot. The noodles were acceptable. 3.5 out of 5.0 stars. Get it here.

Not this but this is pretty epic.

#271: Paldo Korean Noodle Kimchi Flavor

So this looks good – I’ve been fortunate enough to try some really good Kimchi at the Korean BBQ places I’ve been in the last few months so this caught my eye.

One packet and no veggies – was a little surprised by that…

That’s a lot of the red powder! Zing zing zing!

Click image to enlarge. I added two eggs to this one while the noodles were cooking. Well, not really super excited on this one – it’s hot and pretty good but really could use some veggies – some nice cabbage in here would’ve given it a little more of a kimchi authenticity. The noodles were good – and plentiful and the broth was nice. 3.5 out of 5.0 stars. Get it here.

This is a nice little video on hot to cook Korean Ramen – usually this’d work with any Korean noodle packs by Ottogi, Samyang or Paldo. Of course, some special ones like the Bibim Mien, a cold ramen dish, wouldn’t exactly follow.

So a big hurking bowl noodle. The only time I’ve ever seen anything this size before when not a fresh udon bowl was the Nissin Souper Meals.  Its 2152mg of sodium and should pack a wallop!

Veggies on the left, soup base on the right.

I’m really pleased – looks like a lot of veggies here! Also the soup base has a nice red color to it.

I have a Prodigy CD that I use to hold down the lids on smallish cup noodles and the like but this required a full 12″ disco Tower of Power vinyl.

Click image to enlarge. Here’s the finished product with two eggs intermingled. I like this a lot. The noodles are firmer and chewier than I expected. The broth is nice – a little spice and a bit on kimchi flavor and the veggies are ample. The two eggs top it off quite nicely. 4.0 out of 5.0 stars on this one – nicely done! Get it here.

The King of Cups! It’s big! It’s lobster! It’s today on The Ramen Rater!

Dehydrated veg on the left, powder on the right.

Lots of veggies here – I’m stoked on that. Also a very red powdered seasoning – Could be spicy!

Click image to enlarge. I added a couple fried eggs in here. The broth was rich and flavorful. It was spicy too. The noodles were quite good, and the veggies…  Carrot, sea tangle, welsh onion (leek) round it out. I like this stuff – pretty good. 3.5 out of 5.0 stars. Get it here.

Some more of these Paldo noodles. Let’s see how they taste and especially what I’m curious about – if these are thicker noodles.

Nice looking packets – nice to see lots of veggies and things going on.

Red powder and nice looking veggies!

Click image to enlarge. Two fried eggs and here we go. So not exactly as I imagined – which isn’t a complaint. The noodles are a little bigger than your average and much chewier. I like them. The broth is hot and spicy and tastes good, and the veggies are awesome. Altogether quite good! 3.75 out of 5.0 stars! Get it here.

Seafood flavor… I wonder if this will be like the Seafood Party? Kind of looks like the same kind of thing.

Veggies and powder seasoning…

Decent amount of veg and the seasoning looks spicy!

Added a couple eggs during the cooking – looked nice so I snapped a pic.

Click image to enlarge. Here’s the finished product, all neat and presentable. So I like this one – I find that the noodles are of good quality this time, and not too chewy or tough like the broad or u-dong. The broth is rich and savory and full of flavor. The vegetables are abundant and tasty. I am giving it 3.75 out of 5.0 stars – really hit the spot. Find it here.

Well, I’d sworn I’d had this before but nope! That was the Nongshim stuff. Curious if this stuff is as good…

A single packet of powder…

A lovely deep red color – very nice to see!

Click image to enlarge. Added one fried egg and a pinch of Tony Chachere’s Creole Seasoning. So this stuff’s great – adding an egg makes it nice and tasty too. Decent heat, noodles are good and broth is red! Also, spied a couple little pieces of that spiral naruto stuff at the bottom of the bowl and they were good and fun to look at. 3.75 out of 5.0 stars.

So here’s some Dosirac. I wonder what it means? Funny name! Perhaps it means Great Taste!

I still find it quite interesting to find the packets have text in Cyrillic… Does Dosirac make sense in Cyrillic?

Or maybe it means hamster pellets? These rehydrate and turn into enjoyable little flavor nuggets.

Click image to enlarge.  I like this stuff. The noodles were tasty and of decent consistency. I liked the re-hydrated chickenny nugs of wonder and there was some veg going on. 3.25 out of 5.0 stars. Find it here.

So here’s another Dosirac, this time beef. More of the same?

Same as before on packets – a veggie and a powder.

Waiting for the boiling water and a couple fried eggs which I topped with a couple pinches of Lindberg-Snider Red Baron Barbecue Seasoning – some of my all time flavoring seasoning I might add!

Click image to enlarge. So the same deal as the chicken. The broth does seem to have a little spiciness to it the chicken didn’t, and there seem to be a few more of the little re-hydrated chewy meat-like orbs floating around. The Noodles are decent. All around a fun bowl of noodles. 3.75 out of 5.0 stars.

As I’ve said before, I can’t find any Paldo Commercials. So here’s some odd commercials.

Next to last one of these. Shrimp flavor sounds pleasurable – I shall eat it!

Veg on top, soup base powder below.

Red powder!!! It’s got a slight spicy taste to it too!

Click image to enlarge. Two fried eggs have been added.  Wow this is truly delightful – the noodles came out quite nicely. The broth has a slight spiciness and the veggies are there – not a ton of them but not too bad. The eggs finish it off perfectly. I really enjoyed this one – 4.25 out of 5.0 stars! Get it here.

Go to a Thai joint and try this stuff – worth your while. Note – the noodles above have nothing to do with this vid but again I am unable to find any videos that do.

The last of the Paldo Dosiracs. Mushroom eh? Here ya go…

Veg on top, powder on bottom.

Little chewy funny bits on left and powdered base on right atop the noodle block.

Click image to enlarge. Finished product. Broth – a light bit spicy but all in all not very much mushroom taste that I detected. Reminded me more of mushroom gravy – the taste and not the consistency. The noodles were standard bowl noodle… The chewy bits weren’t bad. Meh. 2.5 out of 5.0 stars.

#346: Paldo Bowl Noodle Soup Spicy Artificial Chicken Flavor

So I’ve reviewed a lot of bowl noodles. I’m confused as to how Paldo, Samyang and Nongshim all have them and they’re all called bowl noodle. Spicy chicken is pretty common – let’s see how this is.

Two packets – powder on left, veggies on right.

Always like that rich color contrast.

Click image to enlarge. Okay so I added a couple fried eggs. That stuff on top? I made hot sauce yesterday! Click here to see what it was made out of and here to see the making of post on  my other blog, FooFooMayo. So this was pretty good – nothing super special but I enjoyed it for breakfast. 3.125 out of 5.0 stars Get it here.

One of the best short videos about noodles I’ve ever seen.

This was on PBS while I ate these noodles – looks like some good food!

So here’s another one of these by Paldo. It shall be today’s breakfast/lunch.

One solitary packet of love.

Mount Kimchi Flavoring! Behold all of its glory!

Click image to enlarge. So I added a slice of oven roasted turkey breast lunch meat. So there are veggies – just in the bottom of the bowl on this one. The noodles sat for about 8 minutes and I thought that made them extra good. The broth was nice and spicy too, and the veggies were crisp. 3.5 out of 5.0 stars – a good lunch. Find it here.

These guys are easily scared by noodles.

This looks like good food!
